Emu Feathers

Emu feathers are very unique. Each feather will have a very small quill with 2 plumes extending out of it. The plumes (or rhachis) do not have barbs that interlink the vanes like most feathers. That is why emu feathers are flexible and the plumes are wispy and more like hair than a regular feather.

Each double plumed feather will range in size and texture depending on what part of the bird it comes from. The smaller feathers will be soft and fluffy and the longer feathers will be more coarse or grass-like.
